DECA Tailgate

August 23rd, 2019

South Forsyth DECA host a tailgate at the beginning of each school year just before one of our South Forsyth War Eagles’s friday night football games. This event has been an annual tradition for SFHS DECA, and has always been a great way to kick-off the school year. This years DECA tailgate took place on August 23rd and was a huge success! The tailgate was held in the plaza just before the South vs. Sprayberry game and was luau themed. We had bouncy houses and obstacle courses, we catered Jim n’ Nicks, and had a Kona Ice truck show up. Overall we had a great turn out and were proud of our South Forsyth War Eagles for their victory against Sprayberry.

Fall LDC

October 17th-18th, 2019

Each fall Georgia DECA holds its annual Fall Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an excellent event for our student members to learn more about leadership skills and get pumped for the upcoming year in DECA. It's especially great for any members looking to potentially run for an officer position later in the year as it teaches valuable skills that are extremely useful when serving as an officer and being a leader in the community. Our students had a great time participating in all the workshops and role play events that took place at the conference this year.

Magical Morning

DECA’s competitive events program directly supports our mission. As an integral part of the classroom curriculum, DECA’s industry-validated competitive events are aligned with the National Curriculum Standards in the career clusters of marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism. DECA's flagship evaluation process involves students in both a written component such as an exam or report and an interactive component with an industry professional serving as a judge. DECA’s competitive events directly contribute to every student being college and career ready when they graduate from high school. Students compete at the regional, state, and international levels.

DECA Prom Fashion Show

January 16th, 2020

Every year, our Fashion Merchandising and Buying Pathway puts on a DECA Prom Fashion Show in our schools performing arts center. This event is one of our biggest events of the year and is widely known around our community. This years theme was “A Night in DECAWOOD” and was a huge success. With help from our sponsors, Tuxedo Warehouse, Flirt, and Paul Mitchell School of Atlanta, we were able to put on a great show for our school and community. We were also able to raise over $700 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF)! Overall it was a great experience for our students and community and we can't wait to do it again next year!

ICDC

April 24th-27th, 2021

DECA's annual International Career Development Conference for 2021 is planned to take place in Anaheim, California. We are so proud of all our competitors who moved on to compete at ICDC last year even though we could not attend. We know all our students are very strong competitors and wish them the best of luck this year. With COVID-19 in mind, the International level of DECA are planning for the best possible scenario and hope to be in-person by 2021. If this is not the case by then, ICDC will hopefully be planned to be virtual.

DECA's Day of Donations

September 16th, 2020

DECA’s community service program partnered with Best Buddies to encourage strong friendships and inclusion with people with disabilities in our community. This day is a virtural donations day at South Forsyth High where students, teachers, and family can donate throughout the day. The donations will be broadcasted throughout our school and our Birdcage. Our DECA day of Donations is a competition between our DECA members to see who can donate the most! We have also partnered with our school's Beta Club to optimize our day for Best Buddies.
